A Slice of Life
As we all know, chamber life has many facets to it, and we all have partaken in these for a variety of reasons. There is the social aspect of Chamber life. This is indicated by our attendance at mixers and enjoying the “shmoozing” with our brothers and sisters.
There is the learning aspect of Chamber life. This is indicated by our attendance at various luncheons, where we listen to others, as they inform us what they do for a living. If you are like me, mental notes are taken for future use.
There is the selfish aspect of Chamber life. We have all been victimized by what can be called the darkside. We have all had the thoughts as to how can joining the Chamber improve our business, and thus increase our ability to economically prosper.
There is the “giving back” aspect of Chamber life. Here past and future leaders of our Chamber take the time out of their busy lives, and give back to the Chamber. These members sit on committees, act as Chamber Ambassadors, and are on the Board of Directors. These members all work together making sure that our Chamber and its facets run smoothly.
There’s one more facet that needs to be discussed. Volunteerism. It does not matter whether it concerns our Chamber life or just life in general. The ability to do this makes us feel special. This is why the Labor Day Holiday has a special meaning for this Chamber and a wonderful group of Chamber members and their families.
We have all grown up watching (at least once) the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Muscular Dystrophy Telethon. A group of your Chamber members volunteered to give up a few hours of their Holiday by working at the telethon. They proudly wore the new Chamber T-shirts and shared bits of television time. Some of us were even complimented for the “good deeds” we were doing on behalf of both the Chamber and the telethon.
I would now like to thank these “special “members and their families for volunteering
and making a non-chamber event (technically) a huge success:
Al Alvarez of Innovative Promotions for making the shirts
Rana Ghadban our Chamber Executive director
Mona Strehler our current Chamber president of TPC Enterprises
Darcy Newman of Primerica Financial Services
Greg and Debby Imlay of EZ Auction, LLC and their daughter Denise Hoey
Martin and Nora Carmen of Synaptic Systems
Ed and Karen Sinderman of AdzZoo
Roberta Lopez of Pinnacle Estate Properties
Patrick Meherin and Sheryl Tratner of Avant-Garde Marketing Solutions Inc
(Myself) Ronald M. Schulkin C. P. A. and my wife Michele
Once again, I’d like to say “Thank You”, one and all, for taking that extra step on behalf of our Chamber.
Ronald M. Schulkin C. P. A.
Member of the Board
