PRNC FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS


What is the Porter Ranch Neighborhood Council (PRNC)?
  • The Porter Ranch Neighborhood Council is an organization that is officially certified by the City of Los Angeles to increase our influence with City lawmakers and departments to improve our community.
  • The PRNC came about as a result of Los Angeles City Charter Reform and interested stakeholders in our community.
  • The Board is elected by stakeholders and holds monthly meetings.
  • The Board is allocated a budget of $50,000 by the City from your tax dollars.
Who qualifies as a PRNC stakeholder?
Anyone who lives, owns or rents property, or works within the PRNC territory qualifies as a stakeholder.

Where are the PRNC territory boundaries?


The Porter Ranch Neighborhood Council boundaries are:
  • The Southern boundary is the 118 Freeway
  • The Eastern boundary is Aliso Canyon
  • The Northern boundary is the City line
  • The Western boundary is on the East side of Brown’s Canyon road. Starting at the City Line on the North end, down to the gate at the South end of Brown’s Canyon and then proceeding in a straight line South to the 118 Freeway

How do stakeholders participate in the PRNC?
  1. Come to meetings and get informed by guest speakerson subjects affecting Porter Ranch.
  2. Speak Up on agenda items during their consideration by the Board. Please complete a “Speaker Card” to address the Board on agenda item. Limit your comments to 2 minutes.
  3. Comment on items not on the agenda during the Public Comment Period of the agenda.
  4. Note: Only Board Members are permitted to vote on PRNC actions or positions. Thus, it's important for you to participate in the election process and to provide your input to the Board at regularly scheduled meetings.
  5. Take Action as recommended by the Board during meetings or communications to express your opinion to relevant parties. For example at one time the Board asked stakeholders to express their concern to the Fire Chief about sufficient 911 response teams. Public comment was effective in preventing reduced service.
  6. Participate on PRNC committees.
  7. Vote for Board members in PRNC elections.
  8. Run for a seat on the Board.
What happens if I register?
Registration as a stakeholder does not obligate you to anything.
Registration entitles you to vote in PRNC elections and to participate on PRNC committees. Registration also enables you to receive PRNC meeting announcements, community involvement opportunities, and emergency communications by email or phone.
