April 2003 What can we do to improve???

President's Message

As the President of the Chatsworth/Porter Ranch Chamber of Commerce my prime responsibility is to make certain that Chamber members are getting the most for their membership dues. I need to make sure that the business community has access to politicians and government entities that make the decisions that affect their businesses. I need to make sure that members have an opportunity to increase business by giving the members numerous opportunities to network. I also try to make sure we have as many events as possible that benefit various charities in the area. We try to make all our activities fun and entertaining.

I am asking for your help in improving the Chamber. I am sure you have ideas for new and different events and how to enhance our existing events. I would greatly appreciate feedback and suggestions on how to improve the Chamber. I have setup an email ? suggestions@chatsworthchamber.com - directly for the express purpose of listening to what our members have to say.

Please remember that the success of a Chamber membership is directly related to the time and effort you put into that membership. Let us know how we can better serve you.

Boeing Hosts Students for ?Science for Kids?

Canoga Park?s Science Expo 2003 hosted 1,300 students for three days in February. Schools participating came from Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. One day one of these kids may be wearing a Boeing badge, thanks to an interest in space that was sparked by coming here.? School selection is through a lottery process and 23 schools eagerly participated this year.

Sha-Boom Sha-Boom 2003 ?Happy Days? Business Expo
by Wendi Day, Bodywise International
Chair, Business Expo

Mark Wednesday, May 28th on your calendars for one of the Chamber?s funniest and best networking events ? the 3rd Annual Business Expo! It will be held at the Warner Center Marriott from 3:30pm to 7:30 pm.

We are excited that David Lopez, Tunes Entertainment, will be our MC and DJ for the Expo again this year. With the theme being ?Happy Days? you can bet there will be great music, good food, wonderful door prizes and lots of networking opportunities.

And, we hope the participating vendors will have fun with the theme. Decorate your table and yourself?poodle skirts, fuzzy dice, and ?DA? hairstyles will be the order of the day.

We have expanded the format this year to include all businesses ? home-based to large corporations. To be sure that all vendors have the chance to meet everyone that stops by, we will be having a ?Passport? again this year. All the businesses participating in the Expo will be listed in the passport and all the visitors must have a representative from each vendor sign their passport to be eligible for the grand prize drawing. We encourage the vendors to have drawings at their individual tables, as well. We are also offering sponsorship packages to give your business even more exposure prior to and during the event.

Jenny Gosselin, Jano Graphics, is enthusiastic about the event. ?This is better that a networking social, because we get to see what other businesses do, not just hear about it. It?s a far better way to put your name and business out there.?

Stephen Oliver, Chem-Dry Anytime, using the Expo, as a favorite marketing tool. ?I was able to demonstrate how some of our products work, which you cannot do at a mixer. I definitely increased my business and name recognition after participating in the past two Expos.?

So, don?t be left out this year, applications are already being accepted and spaces are filling up. Applications are attached in the newsletter and will be distributed throughout the next few months. Please call the Chamber office
(341-2428) with any questions you may have.

Be there or be square!
