“HEY, YOU WON!”

Wow visions of winning the big jackpot in either the Mega or Super Lotteries ran thru my head. Wait! I don’t recall even buying a ticket. Maybe I had just dozed off and tried too catch some “ZZZZZ’s”. You know, grab some quick “winks”. (As an old man, I can always claim that I was entitled to these.) My prize, as it turned out, was to be the featured member on the website. (Can you imagine the brief ride I just had on the emotional rollercoaster?)
My name is Ronald Schulkin. I am a Certified Public Accountant. I am a board member of both the Chatsworth/Porter Ranch Chamber of Commerce and the Chatsworth Business Improvement District.

I am also a Viet Nam Veteran and proud of it. (Voice in the Head: “He can even remember being drafted and kicking and screaming all the way to Basic Training. Glad that stopped as I could take much more of those reactions.”)
“Voice in the Head, enough of your interruptions”. My memories of this influential time of my life are extremely vivid and colorful, as some of you have already heard. I won’t go into the stories here, but if you were to ask….maybe.
I have been a Certified Public Accountant since 1982. My practice has been in Chatsworth since 1991. I enjoy working with small businesses and individuals. The bulk of my practice deals with taxes on all levels (Federal and numerous state Income Taxes, Payroll and Sales Taxes, Estates and Trusts, and Exempt Organizations).
As a Certified Public Accountant, the best piece of advice I can give you is simply this:
“Taxes are very fluid and forever changing, and they are extremely complexy by their very nature. I do not care how smart you are or what tax preparation software you use. You will never be able to ask all the proper questions, and thus, you may never receive all the correct answers when it comes to the preparation of your personal tax returns. I really don’t care how your taxes get prepared or by whom. You will never go wrong by having a professional do them for you”. (Voice in the Head: “Good advice!”)
